Universal begins construction for Halloween Horror Nights
Universal Orlando Resort may still be awaiting the opening of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley, but work has to go on for other events that draw thousands of visitors to Central Florida, like Halloween Horror Nights.
Halloween Horror Nights runs from Sept. 19-Nov. 1 and is an event that draws visitors to Orlando during the non-peak tourism season. That helps put more heads in hotel beds and generate more sales for businesses that cater to tourists such as restaurants, travel services and other attractions.
The theme park company filed a notice of commencement with Orange County on June 20 for the construction of three haunted houses — the main staple attractions at Halloween Horror Nights.
The permit is for the event’s houses 5-7, which have yet to be identified. The park pulled a similar permit earlier in the month for the previous houses. The contractor on the project is Keystone Builders Inc. in Winter Garden.
