Builders bringing 1,700 new homes to C. Fla. in next 2 years
Homebuilders in Central Florida are staying pretty busy, with plans to build 1,700 new homes in the region by the end of 2016.
Residential construction has a huge economic impact in the Orlando area, creating not only construction jobs and vendor opportunities, but it also generates usage of more warehouse and distribution space, as well as helping drive retail construction. Additionally, the local housing market is considered a bellwether for economic health.
Here’s a look at some of the projects builders have broken ground on or plan to start in the area, which include both single-family and multifamily homes for sale:
Royal Cypress Preserve, west Orange County: Toll Brothers Inc. plans to build 206 luxury single-family homes in a gated, 116-acre neighborhood near Walt Disney World. R ead more about that community.
Seidel Road, west Orange County: Toll Brothers also in May bought 189 acres for a new luxury home community featuring 365 single-family homes and townhomes on Seidel Road in the Horizon West master-planned community. Toll Brothers’ two purchases landed the homebuilder a spot among Orlando Business Journal’s Best Real Estate Deals for 2013-14.
Esplanade at Highland Ranch, Clermont: Taylor Morrison Inc. has started work on this new community for people age 55 and up, which will feature 475 homes priced from the low $200,000s. The first phase, which will have 70 lots, is expected to be completed in early 2015. Taylor Morrison spent $17 million earlier this year to buy the 579-acre site.
