Florida Breaks the All-Time Tourism Record, Again!
Ladies and Gentlemen, the numbers are out and guess what? Florida has again set another record, with 60.7 million visitors in the first six months of 2017. The new numbers show a 4.1% increase from the first six months of 2016.
The study, made by the State’s official tourism marketing corporation Visit Florida, shows that domestic visitors remain the highest cohort (53.2 million), followed by 5.3 visitors from overseas and 2.2 million Canadians visitors.
According to a recently published article on the Orlando Business Journal, the legislative and financial investments made in Visit Florida are supportive of this year’s goal of achieving 120 million visitors. Reaching this goal will not continue to break records, but more importantly will incentivize the already booming tourism industry, which represents well north of $100 billion for the State.
This record setting has increased occupancy rates in key meccas such as Orlando, providing great opportunities for owners of vacation homes to step in and satisfy this growing demand. Moreover, indirect revenue from tourism related activities is a key economic indicator for business owners, which benefit from increased demand on their services of products just by a mere increase of their customer base. Needless to say, this growth in economic output increases per-capita spending levels, incentivizes construction of new homes to cope with demand and new developments boost home values as they are completed.
The booming tourism industry continues to attract new home buyers and real investors looking to capitalize on the rising home values and the demand from short and long term rentals.
